Academician Koroteev: Missions to Mars are to Become Real in the Nearest Future

The humankind is on the edge of transport and energy revolution, says Academician Anatoly Koroteev. The missions to Mars will be feasible in the nearest future, he adds.. Quoted at round table “Human in Space: Is There a Border?” Koroteev explained that the mankind had reached the edge where “transport and energy capabilities become limited”. Similar thing happened with aircraft industry after World War the Second. Serious approach to distant space missions implies transport and energy revolution, according to Koroteev. Russian Governments has already made a significant step on this way through approving development of the spacecraft with nuclear propulsion which is capable of improving effectiveness by 10-15 times, compare to the current levels of propulsion.
